Enrollment

  • How do I register my Kindergarten,   Intermediate,  Middle,  High School students?
    Kindergarten students begin registration in May with Kindergarten Roundup.  After May visit the Primary school office for forms.  Birth certificates and immunization information is required when enrolling students.  Information and necessary forms will be available when school buildings open August 13th.  Secretaries will be back in school offices on August 20th.  Check each schools website or calendar for open houses and orientations.
  • Do I need to register my returning student?  
    No, paperwork for updating enrollment status will be sent the first week of school.  Generally, transition grades 2nd to 3rd, 5th to 6th, 8th to 9th have some type of orientation/informational meeting.  Check the website of the school your student will be transistioning to for detailed information.

Assessments used for determining student learning

  • What is WASL?
    Washington Assessment of Student Learning is a standards based assessment administered to students third through tenth grade. For the Class of 2008 and beyond, the WASL is a graduation requirement.  For the latest information go to
    O.S.P.I. (Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction).
  • What is M.A.P.?
    M.A.P. Measure of Academic Progress an indistrict assessment tool used for students 2nd through 10th. M.A.P. is an adaptive computerized assessment aligned with state G.L.E.'s (grade level expectations) with results availible within 24 hours.

District Programs

  • What is Family Access?
    Family Access allows families the option of tracking grades, attendance and lunch accounts.  This is a no cost voluntary option available to families K - 12.  
  • What is NovaNet?
    NovaNet or WISE (Web Based Individual Student Education) is a web based program that helps kids earn the credits they need for high school graduation.  It serves 9th-12th grade students who have dropped out of school but would like to come back and earn their HS diploma or high school students who are struggling to pass their classes and may just need a smaller setting with more one on one instruction. NovaNet can also be used for credit retrieval or test prep.  For more information about NovaNet contact Joann Tracey @

  • What is E.C.E.A.P.?   Early Childhood Education Assistance Program for information please contact Lisa @ 253.798.7240x7379.
  • What is School Messenger?
    School Messenger is an automated phone calling system used to notify families of upcoming events, school closures and emergency situations.
  • What is the Partnership School?
    The Partnership School is a small K-8 choice school with multiage classes.  A high degree of parent involvement is requested to support personalized student education, social democracy and enriching field experiences.

  • What is the Challenger Program?
    Orting Middle School offers a highly capable program for additional information contact Pat Kelly.
  • My Student would like to partcipate in sports where can I find information? Sport forms can be found under the Student link.  Contact the Athletic Director Marty Parkhurst for sport specific coach for information.

Volunteer and Support programs

On campus volunteers are required to have a yearly background check (no cost) and sign in each time at the school office where you will be volunteering.  Please adhere to these guidelines for the safety of our students.

PTTE - Parents & Teacher Together in Education directly supports numerous field experiences and pursues grant opportunities for the Partnership School.

CISO - Community in Schools of Orting

Project Graduation - Senior Parents fundraising for a drug and alcohol free celebration for graduating seniors the night of graduation.
