Medication Guidelines
"Physicians orders for medication during school hours".
Washington State Law demands strict control over the
administration of
over-the counter and prescription medication taken during school hours. This includes cough drops. Washington State regulations
REQUIRE written permission and directions from the physician/dentist
and parent/guardian
for ALL medications (prescription and over the counter) given during
school hours. NO exceptions. All medication must be in their original
container with the name and dose of medication listed. Please contact
school health room or district website for a copy of the information and form.

"New" MRSA information
From Tacoma Pierce County Health Department
You
may have heard or seen recent news coverage regarding MRSA
(Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus) and may be understandably
concerned about your child's health.
Heath
officials tell us that MRSA is essentially a staph infection that is
resistant to most antibiotics. It has been in the news lately because
of a new national report about the number of cases in the United States
and reports of cases of the illness at schools.
While
this is a very real health concern, it is important to know that MRSA
is a treatable infection, although not all antibiotics are effective
against it.
