Janette E. Bergen

Assistant Principal Orting High School

Mrs. Bergen graduated from Washington State University in 1984 with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education/Recreation.  Her minors were Health, Coaching and Aquatics.

In December of 1998, Mrs. Bergen graduated from Central Washington University with a Masters Degree in Educational Administration.  Her project was creating an HIV/AIDS video with students at Tyee High School, SeaTac, Washington.

Her teaching career started with substitute teaching and coaching in the Kent, Tacoma, and Medical Lake School Districts.  She started her continuing employment as a physical education, and health teacher at John Sedgwick Junior High.  The next year she taught resource room at Cedar Heights Junior High both in the South Kitsap School District. 

Ms. Bergen then worked at Pacific Middle School, in the Highline School District for one year.  There she created a Middle School Transition program, taught resource room and physical education.  She then transferred to Tyee High School where she taught for eight years.  Her duties included teaching physical education, health, and resource room and Reading Coordinator.  She was the Head Volleyball and Head Girls Track coach for eight years, Head Boys Swim coach, one year, and Assistant Girls Basketball coach for one year.  Other duties included HIV/AIDS Coordinator and 1999 Graduation Coordinator.

Mrs. Bergen was hired in 1999 as Orting Middle School Assistant Principal, Athletic Director and OYAC Coordinator.  In 2005, she was Principal of Orting Middle School North, our 6th Grade Campus and Partnership School for two years.  In 2007, she was named Principal of Orting Primary School where she enjoyed working with our Pre-School to Second Grades in the formative years!

Mrs. Bergen grew up in a small town atmosphere of  Soap Lake, Washington. She graduated in a class of thirty three students, thus enjoys the positive Orting community environment.  She was happily married July 4, 1998 to Scott, a Chiropractor at Lake Tapps Chiropractic and Real Estate Agent.  They have two active sons, Gage and Jaden.  They enjoy their ski boat, swimming, camping, traveling and spending time with their family and friends.

Mrs. Bergen's personal mission is to help each child succeed academically and socially in a nurturing and safe environment!
